What Does the Video Really Say?
Leiah starts the video by saying, “Is it just me, or are fast food places getting, like, really mean?” She goes on to explain that when she asked for sauce at Popeyes, the employee gave an exasperated sigh and said, “We charge extra.”

Then she asked the employee how much extra it cost for sauce and was surprised that they told her it was $1, saying, “A dollar? I know it’s inflation, but like…”
The Public Weighs In
While there are certainly some people who disagreed with Leiah’s reaction, they are the minority. Most concurred that $1 is too much for sauce, and at the various Popeyes they visit, it’s either free or only costs $0.25.

More importantly, almost everyone seems to agree that the problem is the customer service, but that it’s what they’ve come to expect at fast food chains.
No Corporate Sauce Price Policy
Because Popeyes operates as a franchise, each restaurant is individually owned and run, and therefore, there is no Popeyes corporate sauce price policy.

So while some Popeyes restaurants might give sauce for free, others charge anywhere from $0.25 to $1 per additional packet. And you never really know what you’re going to get until you order.
It’s Not Really About the Money
It’s pretty clear in Leiah’s video that while she thinks a dollar is pretty steep for sauce, she was more disappointed in the Popeyes employee’s rude attitude.

Maybe it’s because they simply don’t enjoy their jobs or because they’re constantly dealing with rude customers. Regardless, the world seems to agree that fast food service is quite disappointing.
